FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you set your pricing?

Our pricing is set based on the amount of flight time allocated to run private heliskiing from Aspen. Our helicopters are stationed in Silverton, CO which requires four trips for each group to go private heliskiing. Each morning we fly to Aspen for pickup and then fly guests to the ski zone. We require the same flight time to return guests at the end of the day to the Aspen Airport and to bring the helicopters back for the night.

  • Where do we ski?

From the Aspen private airport FBO where we meet our guests, eight guests conveniently fly directly to our exclusive and newly expanded heli ski zone in the San Juan range, all the while experiencing the most spectacular views over nine different wilderness areas during the 45 minute flight to the beautiful San Juan Mountains. The San Juan Mountains typically receive the most snow in Colorado and due to the high altitude the powder stays fresh for weeks on end.

  • Are you affiliated with Silverton Mountain?

Yes. We have years of guided skiing and heliskiing experience from our team at Silverton Mountain. Aspen Heliskiing is run out of the Silverton Mountain office, meaning your guides will be Silverton Mountain guides with extensive knowledge of the San Juan mountains, snowpack, and the helicopters we fly.

  • When is the best time to go?

Our peak season runs from mid January through March, but that simply means we receive the most requests for this time period. Our skiable acreage receives incredible early and late season snow due to the elevation and location. We book from late December well into April. We operate 7 days a week during the winter season.

  • What About Tipping?

Tips are shared between guides, pilots and mechanics (the people that make this all happen). Our recommendation is 10% of your cost.

  • What if I have to cancel?

No Heli Refunds Unless We Do Not Fly. If you get hurt, sick or choose to not partake in your heli day for any reason you will not receive a refund or credit. If you require a special heli flight for a medical evacuation or for any other reason you will be charged an extra fee to cover the additional flight costs.

Vertical Guarantee: Absolutely no guarantees are made on the amount of skiing each guest will receive as part of the package, in either run count or amount of vertical skied. Due to weather conditions, snow conditions, and other factors including safety and group pace, we cannot guarantee a particular amount of skiing for each individual.

Weather Policy: You need to be at the Aspen Airport at your specified start time. Arriving late can mean you will have a shortened day and potentially the whole day.  If there is a weather delay, we need you to stay available at the Aspen Airport until 10 AM or until the heli is canceled, whichever happens first, on your scheduled heli day standing by. If we cannot provide your booked heli day because we cancel due to wind, non-flyable weather, or for any reason for which we decide to cancel, you will be offered a refund. This is the only instance in which you will receive a refund.

  • Can I pay by deposit?

All payments are due in full in order to secure your booking within 60 days of your fly date. Prior to 60 days, a 25% nonrefundable deposit can be paid to reserve your date on the calendar.

  • What if my return trip is interrupted?

When weather has the potential to interrupt the return helicopter flight to Aspen, our team will continuously monitor the situation and make the guests aware of the risk and may take action to return early back to Aspen. However, if the group determines they wish to continue their ski day despite the risk of no return or In the event that weather prevents us from returning your group to Aspen via Helicopter, our team will work to the best of our ability to get you back to Aspen that evening or help secure lodging in Silverton. In the event that helicopter travel back to Aspen is not available, Aspen Heliskiing will refund that leg of the trip and assist the client in securing alternate travel methods at the guest's expense.  We are unable to control weather and/or 3rd party transportation availability and cannot guarantee your return to Aspen in the event of a weather or mechanical issue.

  • Do you recommend trip insurance?

We recommend that all groups purchase cancel for any reason trip insurance. Trip insurance can be purchased from our partner Global Rescue. https://www.globalrescue.com/. Insurance may also be purchased in the event of injury, medical evacuation, and more.
